Adelaide Rocks: The Project of a Man-Made Hill

January 3, 2014 | in Architecture

Slovak studio of design and architecture Nice Architects won several awards for their unique concept for an urban quarter in Adelaide, Australia. But in the actual competition, organized by the municipality, they took the second place.

Now, we can’t say if the project will be implemented, because it didn’t win. Nevertheless, this is a project that definitely deserves attention. The concept has too key elements to it, the ecological principles and economic feasibility.

The man-made hill has a basis made of recycled construction waste. And it won’t be just a hill. It will use geothermal energy for air conditioning the entire quarter.
