Amazing Rolled Mulberry Paper Art by Ilhwa Kim

January 10, 2015 | in Art

Korean artist from Seoul Ilhwa Kim uses traditional mulberry paper, used often for decoupage, scrapbooking and other types of decorative art, in a very unusual way.

Mulberry paper is very similar to rice paper, but it’s more soft and delicate. Therefore, it must be very difficult to twist such microscopic multicolored rolls out of it. The author calls these rolls “seeds.” To create one work, Ilhwa Kim works hard for several weeks, and it takes a number of “seeds” that can range from a few hundred to several thousand.
