An Unusual Oasis in China

May 31, 2013 | in Travel

In China’s Gobi Desert, just six kilometers from the Dunhuang, is located an unusual Lake Yueyaquan, which has a form of a crescent, and next to it are a few buildings and an ancient Buddhist temple.

This place can be called a real gem of the endless Gobi desert, which is expanding on an area of 1.3 million square kilometers. Every year the area of this oasis is decreasing and the lake is drying, in despite of all efforts to preserve this unique place. This area is included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
