Antelope Valley: The California Poppy Reserve

December 17, 2013 | in Travel

The California golden poppy is growing not only throughout California, but also in neighboring states. Antelope Valley is a nature reserve and is the largest habitat of this plant.

Generally, the valley is a pretty deserted place, but every spring these hills are covered by millions of bright orange flowers. The total area of the valley is over 700 hectares, and it is located at an altitude between eight and nine hundred meters above sea level, in the western part of the Mojave Desert.
