Bloco da Lama: A Mud Carnival in Brasil

March 17, 2014 | in Events

The Bloco da Lama carnival is held in Brasil, in the small town of Paraty located in the southern part of the country.

The first Bloco da Lama took place here in 1986, but then it definitely couldn’t be called a carnival because there were only two participants. While at the lake Jabaquara, the guys were going to catch some crabs, but there were so much annoying insects that they decided to smear mud all over themselves. Later, when some friends joined them the whole thing turned into a mud party. From year to year, the number of participants continued to grow, and this year there were more than a thousand mud lovers.
