Every year in Singapore is held a street parade, which is a part of the New Year’s celebration, according to the lunar calendar. It all started with a simple street procession of the Chinese diaspora.
First Chingay Parade was held forty years ago. If translated literally, the word Chigay means the art of masquerade. All Singaporeans are seeing in the celebration the hope for a better future, so they celebrate with all their fun and joy. The grand carnival procession is accompanied by large-scale theatrical performances, music of brass bands, dragon dances, fireworks, circus and acrobatic tricks.
