June 13, 2013 | in Events

This event has a very long history that lasts for centuries. It all started in ancient times, when 2000 years ago Chinese people celebrated the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.

The festival is called Duanwu Festival and every year it is held in different days, because it depends on the lunar calendar. In China and Hong Kong, there is even a professional league for those who participate in dragon boat racing. The festival is attended by more than 30,000 people. In the evening, the boat racing is replaced by a carnival celebration.
