Geothermal Beach in Iceland

January 23, 2013 | in Travel

Who would have thought that in the winter in Iceland, you can swim in the bay Nautholsvik which is in Reykjavik. However, this possibility does exist. In winter, the water temperature is not lower than 66 degrees there.

This is the temperature in the Gulf. But in a specially organized place the temperature is even higher. It never drops below the comfortable mark of 86 degrees. Until the mid-80s of last century, there has been a popular place for swimming, but not very comfortable. In 2000 there was opened a modern geothermal beach with sand, specially brought from Morocco. In the cold season there are provided hot drinks for visitors.
