December 27, 2012 | in Events

In the Chinese city of Harbin started a regular, already the 29th festival of ice and snow. The debut event was held back in 1963. Naturally, then it wasn’t so big and bright as it is today.

After a long break, since 1985 the festival has become regular, and each year for the creation of sculptures is used a bigger and bigger amount of snow and ice. The ice is traditionally brought from the Songhua River. This year, to fill the entertaining center (600,000 square meters) will be used about 180,000 cubic meters of ice. The official opening of the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival will be held on 5th January, next year.
