Neptune Memorial Reef – World’s Largest Man Made Reef

April 26, 2013 | in Travel

Not far from Key Biscayne, Florida can be found the world’s largest man-made reef, which is called Neptune Memorial Reef. The reef is placed on a 45 feet depth.

This specific cemetery appeared here not very long ago, a little over five years. The initiative of the reef creation came from a group of divers, who proposed to arrange a real underwater graveyard, which won’t harm in any way the environment, and at the same time will be a part of the program related to the protection of the coast of the peninsula. Anybody can be buried here for almost a thousand dollars.
