Painted Hills of Oregon

This place attracts thousands of tourists every year, especially those interested in geology and paleontology. Of course, photographers love this place, too.

Painted Hills is a protected by the US government area with a surface of 1267 hectares. Its territory belongs to the complex of John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. The title of Painted Hills is due to their multi-layered coloring. Each layer represents a certain geologic time period.
