Sculptures Made from Beverage Cans by Makaon

May 18, 2013 | in Art

Japanese artist and sculptor Makaon creates sculptures from recycled beer and soda cans. There are many forms of art made of salvaged materials. Well, here’s another one.

Makaon is the owner of an impressive collection of various superheroes, fictional characters, robots, and just animals. In this post, we will focus on cartoon superheroes. In creation of these sculptures, the author uses the traditional Japanese technique of origami. It is interesting not only to look at these sculptures, but it is also fun to guess what cans were used in the creation of a particular character. For example, Super Mario’s shirt and hat are made from Coca-Cola can, his shoes from Coke Zero, and his over-all is made from a can of a popular Japanese beer Suntory.
