The Art of Destroying Cars

September 23, 2013 | in Art

Israel-based artist and designer Ron Arad flattened six Fiat 500s cars for his project using a commercial press on one of the shipyards of Groningen, Netherlands.

The author says that he does not destroy the cars, but, on the contrary, he immortalizes them. It’s a strange way to immortalize cars in a final thickness of five inches. At the moment the series entitled Pressed Flowers is exhibited in a gallery in Tel Aviv. Before flattening a car, the author removes the tires and the engine from it. After the compaction, he adds a little make-up on them and puts the tires back on.
